The classic car park is tip-toeing into the modern world on Sunday 11 January, but only just. Instead of being open to only cars from 1990 and earlier, any car with a prefix or suffix numberplate will be eligible to park at the front of the airfield.
The change coincides with the 25th anniversary of the update in format, which introduced the modern twice-yearly change after the Y-reg of 2001. That means modern classics will no longer be overlooked, and the likes of the Honda NSX, Lamborghini Diablo and Rover 400 will be waved into the classic car park alongside their earlier stablemates. At the later end of the spectrum, the earliest Mini Ones, plus MG ZTs and Renault Avatime might just make the cut.
Classic parking isn’t the closest you can get to the Scramble: Pegasus members get priority parking on Hangar Green once again via Gate 8.
Tickets to the opening Scramble of the year are sold out – the next takes place on Sunday 26 April. Pegasus members can purchase their tickets now – upgrade to join the presale.
General sale opens at 10am on Monday 12 January.
