The centenary of the Technical Site of the former RAF Bicester will be commemorated by a 100-page book reflecting on the history of the base.
100: A Technical Site’s Centenary will be launched at the Scramble at Bicester Motion on Sunday 26 April.
Inside, 100 photos compiled over the course of 12 years tell a story of RAF Bicester from its temporary origins in the First World War, through its official formation in 1926 to today, a living and breathing campus for automotive innovation.
Bicester Motion took ownership of the site in 2013 and has preserved and restored the former bomber base, much of which is Grade II Listed by Historic England. It had spent the previous two decades deserted following a brief role in the Gulf War, as a satellite American military hospital, and various roles during the Second World War.
100: A Technical Site’s Centenary will be available at the Scramble for £12, along with a limited number of hardbacks, before being available online.
