Bicester Colts U15s capped a remarkable season with a 4-2 victory at home to Chadlington, an 11th win in 12 unbeaten games, to claim second place in the Oxfordshire Youth Football League B.
Ending the year as the league’s top scorers, the Bicester Motion-backed team finished second in the table and will be promoted to the A league for the under 16 age group next season. The Colts came up one point short of the title.
Before the final game of the season, the team held a minute’s silence to remember Dave Chester, who sponsored the squad when it was in the under 14 category, and for firefighters Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler. The match took place the day after the one-year anniversary of the fire in Hangar 79.
Bicester Colts U15s will embark on a summer of tournaments, kicking off at Launton on 6 June. They’ll be invited to the Kassam Stadium in Oxford for the end-of-season presentation in the coming weeks, too.
