The Guild of Motoring Writers, the long-standing body for automotive journalists, has given Bicester Motion CEO Daniel Geoghegan its Special Contribution to Motoring Award, sponsored by Kia UK.
The Special Contribution Award is chosen by the Guild along with Kia and it celebrates the achievements of those not connected directly with the motoring industry – in the traditional sense.
It has recognised Dan for devising and inspiring the growth and development of not only Bicester Motion, but the success of the Scramble and the important role of StarterMotor to the future of the industry. The charity’s general manager, Steve Cootes, was on hand to collect the award on Dan’s behalf.
Previous recipients include Edmund King OBE, Land Speed Record holder Richard Noble Bloodhound SSC and HRH Prince Michael of Kent, along with Rev Adam Gompertz. Thatcham and EuroNCAP have also been given the award since it was inaugurated in 2013.
Dan said: Dan said: “It is always the awards you don’t expect that mean the most and I consider it a great privilege for the team here to be chosen by the UK’s leading motoring writers for this Special Contribution to Motoring. It is an honour to follow the names such as Edmund King and our own Adam Gompertz.
"We have been fortunate to have received such great support from the automotive press over the course of the past decade, and always enjoy the opportunity to welcome them at the Scramble.”
