Le Mans winner David Brabham will make his return to full-season racing in 2024 as part of the GT Cup Championship. The Aussie will join Paul Bailey in a Brabham BT62, and has eyes on a historic series win.
Paul certainly has the pedigree alongside David, as reigning GT Cup champion. He shared with ex-Aston Martin works driver and 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup champion Ross Wylie in a Lamborghini EVO GT3 to a comfortable title.
Ex-Formula 1 driver and 2009 Le Mans winner David has race-winning experience of his family’s recent track-only supercar: he claimed victory on its debut at Brands Hatch in 2019.
The car has proven pace, too, holding the unofficial lap record at Bathurst’s Mount Panorama and at Phillip Island.
“It’s a full-circle moment,” said David, whose Brabham Group is based at Bicester Heritage. “This is a culmination of all the hard work and vision we put into this project over the years, and together with Paul, Horsepower Racing and Kendall Developments, we will be pushing for the BT62’s first championship.”
The season gets underway at Donington Park National on 20-21 April.
