Electrogenic’s roster of electric conversions could be about to blossom with the expansion of the 'Powered by Electrogenic' programme.
Drop-in conversion kits will soon be available through selected partners, meaning owners won’t be required to send their cars to Electrogenic's Kidlington base for a bespoke conversion.
A Porsche 356, Jaguar E-type, Citroën DS, Morgan 4/4 and more have been converted so far in-house for customers, a process that is reversible and often retains the use of the gearbox.
The announcement follows a Land Rover test with Worthy Farm and Glastonbury Festival, in partnership with Cardiff University and Innovate UK, that launched in 2022. As a result of the high-profile run, three new Defender kits will be kick off the Powered by Electrogenic range, available for 90, 110 and 127 Defenders made before 2016.
Full details of the 120kW or 150kW packs will be announced soon, says Electrogenic.
Francis Prime has also joined the team, formerly chief engineer at Arrival Ltd, taking up the role of non-executive director.
“I’ve been developing EVs for over 10 years now,” Francis said, “and when I first came to visit Electrogenic I was immediately impressed not only by the beauty of the classic cars being converted to electric power, but also by the company’s technical sophistication and culture of the team.
“I saw a fascinating engineering opportunity, but also a business with a really exciting future and a genuine, deep-rooted, environmental ethos. I’m really excited to be working with the team, and to help guide the company as it enters this exciting new chapter.”
