Hangar 79 at Bicester Motion is to be sensitively demolished due to significant fire damage sustained during the tragic incident on 15 May 2025.
Following discussion with Historic England, Cherwell District Council and teams of expert health and safety, environmental and structural professionals, all parties have agreed the need to demolish the remaining structure.
Cherwell District Council has issued a demolition notice and a specialist contractor has been selected based upon their experience and capability to sensitively carry out these works to ensure minimal disruption.
The process is due to begin on 6 August 2025 and will take approximately four months.
The works will be carried out in line with Cherwell District Council’s requirements.
