The International Historic Motoring Awards has honoured two specialists from Bicester Motion in its 2025 edition.
On a night when the design legend Giorgetto Giugiaro was given the lifetime achievement award, The Heritage Skills Academy was named Industry Supporter of the Year by the star-studded international panel. The pioneering apprentice training college is based out of the Main Stores and has introduced scores of young people to the industry since it launched in 2015, starting the careers of many.
‘Heritage Skills Academy has worked extra hard this year not just to train its students in all aspects of classic car restoration and maintenance, but also to publicise its work with – among others – an inspirational display of skills at the 2025 Goodwood Revival,’ said the judges.
Meanwhile Tomas de Vargas Machuca’s solo run on the 2025 Peking to Paris in his vintage Bentley was described by judges as ‘undoubtedly one of the most heroic drives of all time’ as he picked up the Personal Achievement of the Year sponsored by Petersen Automotive Museum.
Elsewhere, the Ford Escort Alan Mann 68 Edition by Boreham Motorworks that made its public bow at the Scramble in April was named Car of the Year and the Eagle Lightweight GTR, which joined the Escort in the ‘Reboots & Restomods’ display at the October Scramble, won Bespoke Car of the Year.
