To many who come to Bicester Heritage today, the Motor Transport Yard, or MT Yard is the first port of call.
In 1927, the MT Yard comprised only two sides, but in 1937 the long, wide bays now home to Sports Purpose's fine Porsche stock was added to create a closed off working area.
It has been the focus of much renovation in the past 10 years, as the photos from the early Scrambles show. The garage bays were open to the elements, which would have allowed easy access when it mattered most.
RAF Bicester was home to a huge number of vehicles, and the MT Yard would have had space for around 20 at any one time.
Wandering around the MT Yard you'll notice blackout switches at various places – these have since been disconnected. Loud hailers were installed, and they have been removed to be restored.
Like much of Bicester Heritage, Buildings 123-131 are Grade II listed by Historic England.
