The UK representative in the Hot Wheels Legends Tour will be heading to the Scramblers pitch at the Scramble on Sunday 5 October, recalling the 1970s era of touring car racing in spectacular fashion.
Father and son duo Paul and Ethan Foster have created an E21 generation BMW 3 Series complete with Group 5 rear wing, box arches, M division livery and the performance to match. Behind the sharknose headlights is a five-litre V8 producing 420bhp, derived from the venerable Rover.
“It’s part of our family and we’ll never sell it,” says Paul Foster, who led the 14-year build with his son. “We’ve both been huge Hot Wheels fans since we were kids. I just can’t believe it. Representing the UK at the next round of the competition is so exciting.”
The BMW beat 200 cars to the title, and will head to the European final to attempt to claim a place in the Global Grand Final. The winner of that will have their car immortalised by Hot Wheels as a 1:64 model that will be available internationally, following the wheeltracks of The Nash and the Volvo P1800 Gasser from recent years.
“This year, the UK once again delivered a lineup of jaw-dropping contenders, each brimming with raw garage spirit, authenticity and the kind of imagination that Hot Wheels enthusiasts crave,” says Ted Wu, senior vice president and Global Head of Design for Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel.
You’ll find the fabulous unique BMW E21 on the Scramblers pitch at the centre of the Scramble.
