Inside Classifieds by Collecting Cars

Revealing why the marketplace launched Classifieds

Online selling platform Collecting Cars, auction partner of Bicester Heritage, has made great strides in the last couple of years in the automotive auction space, providing a great service for buyers and sellers alongside compelling content via Chris Harris.

You’ll have seen the team at various Scrambles and Assemblies, bringing fantastic cars to view and chatting with Scramblers.

Now Collecting Cars is offering a Classifieds service, which will go a long way to make the marketplace a utility for all enthusiasts, according to its head of UK Oliver Johnstone.

“We know there's a lot of people who want to use our site that might not necessarily want to go immediately to auction,” explains Oliver. “And, while the auction process is extremely straightforward and is a fantastic way to sell a car, it's not necessarily for everyone.

“Many of our customers wanted to use the website as more of a portal – an enthusiast platform where you can browse, buy and sell high-quality cars. Adding Classifieds provides an option for those who are not ready to use an auction to benefit from accessing not only our large audience, but also the social promotion we give the cars.”

“Classifieds enables enthusiasts to connect with one another directly – to a wider community of collectors around the world”

The size of the Collecting Cars audience is impressive. In just over four years it has grown to more than 170,000 registered users, cared for by more than 90 specialists across four continents. Furthermore, the auction service has found 12,500 buyers, and generated in excess of £500 million for its sellers.

“Classifieds,” explains Oliver, “enables enthusiasts to connect with one another directly – to a wider community of collectors around the world. Not only that, but sellers will also have the option to convert their listing into a seven-day auction if required.”

Unlike many other classified listings, Collecting Cars only permits private sellers and each is required to prove ownership before listing. The listings are curated to high presentation standards, including photography and descriptions, so that buyers can get the best impression of the vehicle.

Finally, Collecting Cars will only accept the right cars, vetting information and ensuring the best possible experience for interested parties.

So there you have it. If you own a car or bike that needs a new home, or you’re looking to start the New Year with something exciting in the garage, take a look.

You can also meet the Collecting Cars team at the Scramble on Sunday 7 January, where this vibrant Porsche 911 Speedster will be on display. Find Collecting Cars in Hangar 113.
