The Le Jog organised by HERO-ERA is back, flagging away from Land’s End in Cornwall at 7:30am on Saturday 6 December aiming to arrive in John O’Groats on 9 December.
In all, 1500 miles will be covered in 75 hours on the road by the 54 cars, from a 1924 Bentley 3/4 Litre to Mazda MX-5, Audi 80 and Volkswagen Corrado from 1990.
John Lomas of Blue Diamond Riley Services is among the entry in one of the four VW Golf GTi Mk1s, carrying the Union Jack bowtie first found on the nose of his Riley Tourer on the Monte Carlo Classique, and alongside him will be his usual co-driver Pete Johnson.
Eight Volvos are among the entry, the most of any marque, from 122S ‘Amazon’ to 144 saloon, while three Fiat 124s and four 1970s Alfas will be in the running.
The Le Jog Reliability Run was last contested in 2023, when four gold medals were awarded on an attritional event in which 27 of the 44 starters finished.
No one team wins the event, but instead chases medals, and the golds went to Klaus Mueller and Eric Schwab in a Lancia Fulvia Coupé, Stewart Christie and Andy Ballantyne in a MGB GT, Andy Lane and Iain Tullie in a BMW 2002 Tii and Thomas Koerner and Rolf Pellini sharing a BMW 320/4.
