Motorsport UK has laid out plans that will shape the next five years of motorsport in Britain.
Vision 2030 focuses on three core pillars – retain, renew and recruit – that will be delivered through what Motorsport UK calls ‘five core elements of the motorsport ecosystem’.
It adds that detailed action plans are in motion focusing on competitor participation, volunteers and officials, vehicles and equipment, venues and events, and the wider club community.
By 2030, those five action points will ensure Motorsport UK keeps existing members by enhancing experiences, brings back former competitors by reigniting their passion and finding fresh faces by making it easier for people to join and take part, it says. Its overall aim is to introduce and preserve competitive motorsport to future generations.
It says sport should be more fun and its volunteers and officials should be inspired, ensuring they feel valued. Clubs should feel modern, connected and celebrated, while venues must be accessible, sustainable and exciting. Machinery should be futureproofed and innovative, too.
‘We are proud of our history, but we are even more excited about what lies ahead,’ wrote chief executive Hugh Chambers when introducing the project. ‘Vision 2030 sets out how we will build on that legacy, by working with our community to get more people enjoying motorsport, more often. It is a plan to protect the spirit of the sport while opening the door to new generations of participants, volunteers and fans.’
Motorsport UK says its ‘North Star’ is to get more people enjoying motorsport, more often.
