The Peking to Paris 2025 has reached the Caspian Sea, one its (many) major milestones. Not only is it the halfway mark, but competitors are getting their first proper rest since the rally began on 17 May.
Jorge and Cristobal Perez Companc head the leaderboard in their Chevrolet Master Coupe, with Chevys so far locking out the overall podium places.
Best-placed Brits are Brian Scowcroft and Mark Gilmour aboard a Chevrolet Fangio Roadster ahead of Brian and John Caudwell in another Fangio Coupe.
German duo Gerd Bühler and Laurenz Feierabend top the classic category in a Porsche 911, with Harold Goddijn and Corinne Vigreux second in another 911. Brian Palmer and David Bell are third sharing a Peugeot 504.
Michael Power, who dashed back to Bicester from China to offer his total support following the fire, was reunited with his Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost and Nigel Parsons in Kazakhstan and is 18th overall. Tomas de Vargas Machuca, CEO of HERO-ERA, is running the event solo in ‘the Bicester Bentley’, is two places higher in 16th.
From Baku, the competitors will head on to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, through to Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, before hotfooting it to Salzburg, Austria, then Germany, Switzerland and to Dijon in France. The final day is a non-competitive jaunt to Paris and Place Vendome, where the winner will be crowned on 22 June.
