The REVS-Restore project is rumbling towards the finish line, but there was one major obstacle this week: getting it out of The Royal Automobile Club’s Pall Mall headquarters.

Rev Adam Gompertz’s campaign to restore a Land Rover, and the mental health of the many in the REVS-Limiter community, has been the focus of the illustrious Rotunda at the Club for the past week, with the Series III standing in the wheeltracks of many of the world’s finest machinery. Everything from Formula 1 icons and Le Mans winners to multi-million-pound classics have been featured in the entrance to the historic building.

Many of the volunteers who have come together to restore the former RAF Series III were present at a reception evening on Pall Mall, with many more represented on the underneath of the symbolically unrestored bonnet.

The project began in early 2022, with monthly spannering weekends at the Heritage Skills Academy at Bicester Heritage. The Series, which now runs under its own steam, has also been aided by Britpart UK, Luzzo Bespoke, Michelin UK, Howden Insurance and Autosparks.

“This is truly an incredible privilege for us," said Adam. “To be able to display the Land Rover in this historic and prestigious location, and with the support of so many people, shows how the car community wants to engage with such an important subject.

“Thanks to the Royal Automobile Club we have a truly fantastic location to put mental health front and centre in the minds of so many people. Our thanks go to them for this opportunity. Indeed, there are so many people to thank; it really has been quite a journey."

Jeremy Vaughan, head of motoring at the Royal Automobile Club., added: "It’s a pleasure to support such a worthwhile project and to see the Land Rover at the Club makes it even more special. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with Revd Adam Gompertz since we awarded him Personality of the Year in our 2021 Historic Awards.

"We’ll be keeping a close eye on the project and look forward to seeing the finished product."

REVS-Restore is nearing its target to raise £1800 – its Just Giving page can be found here.
