The Flying Scotsman is underway, with an international field 64 cars from 12 countries racing at prescribed speeds to Gleneagles.

Bicester Motion Specialists are dotted among the entry list of HERO-ERA’s 650-mile event, which will reach its conclusion on Sunday 6 April.

Seasoned competitor John Lomas ended the Prologue day third overall at the head of Class 3 in the 1936 Riley Sprite with Pete Johnson, but plans to enter the Blue Diamond Riley Services Kestrel van in the parallel ‘Lite‘ class fell through late on.

Broad Arrow’s Harry Wassell is among the competitors, sharing a Fraser Nash BMW 328 with Thomas Clutterbuck, going head to head with HERO-ERA sponsorship and partnership director Patrick Burke in Class 4. Patrick is sharing a 328 with Camelia de Vargas Machuca.

Camelia’s husband and HERO-ERA chairman Tomas is also in Class 4 driving the Riley Blue Streak with Dani Callahan. Tomas will soon embark on the Peking to Paris solo in the ‘Bicester Bentley’.

Bicester Motion board members Michael Power and Bob Meijer are also competing, with Michael in a Vauxhall 23-60 and Bob with Jaap in Bristol 400 ‘BAC 1’. Bob's Riley Sprite, DUG (pictured), is being driven by Iens Boswijk and Gé Steensma.

The rally will navigate through Hexham and Edinburgh on the way to Gleneagles, the popular finishing post of the historic rally.
