Broad Arrow has kickstarted 2026 with an international set of ‘Global Icons’ online sales, combining for €18.3million and a 90% sell-through rate.
Leading the Global Icons Europe sale was the Benetton B192-05 that Micheal Schumacher drove to his maiden Grand Prix victory at Spa-Francorchamps in 1992, which changed hands for €5,082,000. As well as being Schumacher’s first, the B192 was the last Formula 1 car to win with a manual gearbox – Broad Arrow’s Joe Twyman labelled it “one of the most iconic race cars of all time,” prior to the sale.
“We are of course especially honoured to have been entrusted with the first ever public sale of the car in which Michael Schumacher won his first F1 race,” he added after the €5m was achieved.
Another to hit the headlines was the uniquely Azzurro California blue 2003 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale that set a European sales record of €561,000, clearing its upper estimate of €500,000.
Two other cars joined the Benetton in hitting seven figures, a Lamborghini Miura P400 S that sold for €1.7m and a Ferrari 275 GTS that sold for €1,386,000.
One of the star cars from the UK Global Icons sale, as showcased at the Broad Arrow showroom in the MT Yard during the Scramble in January, was the 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina and it sold well at £335,500. Likewise the 1998 Porsche 911 Turbo, which threatened to beat its upper estimate before landing at £211,750. It had been expected to fetch between £185,000 and £225,000.
“We couldn’t have wished for a more exciting start to our 2026 European collector car auction calendar,” said Broad Arrow’s vice chairman of Europe, Philip Kantor.
“Our Global Icons: Online series of auctions enabled collectors to acquire some truly iconic automobiles and memorabilia and now we look forward to our next European auction at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in partnership with BMW AG in May.”
Broad Arrow will host its next auction as part of the prestigious Amelia Island Concours Week, in America on 6-7 March, returning to Europe for Villa d’Este on 16-17 May. Two pre-war Bugattis are already set to star, see broadarrowauctions.com for the lots.
