Bicester Motion kicked off the new year with a new look on Sunday 5 January, hosting the first Scramble of 2025.
The sold-out open-day event was the first for a revitalised Bicester Motion, as it gears up for a landmark year that will welcome YASA’s new HQ to the rapidly expanding site.
Thousands attended the classic-car curtain-raiser, celebrating more than a century of motoring. The central display, Class of the Field, honoured manufacturers with an agricultural past from Lamborghini and Porsche to Ferguson and Ford.
At Classic Performance Engineering, the unique Ferguson Formula 1 car driven by Stirling Moss was surrounded by the more familiar Ferguson tractors, an experimental Jaguar XJ-S with Ferguson four-wheel drive and a Triumph that shares engine parts with the farm machinery.
A trio of Porsche tractors graced the central lawn, with a variety of others from BMC and Nuffield, FIAT and David Brown.
Elsewhere, CALLUM Designs unveiled the prototype interior of the SKYE off-roader and eight McLarens gathered at The Road Rat to launch the latest edition of the magazine. In Hangar 113, three Le Mans racers recalled the race’s greatest lap, set by Mark Blundell in the Nissan R90CK in 1990, against a backdrop of more tractors. Kier, construction partner of The Ranges that will be home to YASA, partnered with Bicester Motion for an interactive exhibit geared for children with ride-on diggers.
“The Scramble was a reminder of the remarkable spirit that thrives in the world of motoring enthusiasts,” said Philip White, associate Thousands of keen drivers started 2025 with an adventure to Bicester Motion, braving the winter elements to join friends, family and faithful dogs at the first Scramble of the season. We had been working closely with the local authorities in the lead up to the event to ensure it was appropriate to go ahead.”
“There were challenges to overcome on the day, and we thank the Scramblers members and attendees for their patience and cooperation with the revised parking arrangements to enable as many vehicles as possible to park on hard standing. The result was a Scramble to remember, marking the start of the year with “I was there!”.”
“We look forward to April’s Scramble, which is always the gem of the Bicester Motion motoring calendar.”
The second Scramble of 2025 takes place on Sunday 27 April, with tickets already limited. Pegasus members of Scramblers, the membership of Bicester Motion, purchased 25% of available tickets in an exclusive week-long presale, with a further 25% sold within two hours of general sale.
