Scramblers, the Bicester Heritage membership club, presented charity partner StarterMotor with a £2,610 donation, accrued purely through the monetisation of its membership tiers.

The donation, presented to StarterMotor as part of their Chubb family day, hosted at Bicester on the 5th of August, was the biggest donation received to date. Attendees also enjoyed a display of cars from leading historic rally organiser Hero-ERA and influencer Mr JWW.

StarterMotor’s mission is to put the next generation in the driving seat, encouraging them to enjoy historic motoring and the opportunities that the £18.8bn P.A. sector offers. Through career awareness days, work experience, the opportunity to drive the charity’s classic fleet and representation at events including the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, StarterMotor continues to engage with the future generation of motoring enthusiasts.

Scramblers membership tiers, named Pegasus and Merlin, give members access to a range of perks that are exclusive to Bicester Heritage and several of its Specialist businesses, in addition to making a charity donation to the site’s charity partner StarterMotor. Pegasus and Merlin are the names of engines that powered aircraft stationed at Bicester Heritage when it was an RAF base.

Born from the success of the site’s public Scramble events, Scramblers hosts exclusive members-only gatherings on the final weekend of each month. These gatherings, or Scramblers ‘Assemblies’ celebrate a variety of themes, with Hot-Hatches, 90s Icons, British Classics featured to date.

Normally accessible by appointment only, Bicester Heritage sits on the larger Bicester Motion site, the the best-preserved WW2 RAF Bomber Station in the country. The quarter is home to 45 industry-leading Specialist workshops that the Bicester Heritage hub for historic motoring enterprise is renowned for.

Scramblers exists to celebrate the historic motoring sector and the magic in the driving and preservation of classic cars, while making these experiences open and accessible for future generations.

Philip White, Associate Director, Brand and Marketing comments;

“At Bicester Heritage we forever have the future of the past in mind. Our modern membership, Scramblers, is the first of its kind for enthusiasts who, like us, want to support a sustainable future for our historic automotive industry. To that end, we are proud to hand StarterMotor one of their largest donations this year on behalf of the Scramblers members, thus enabling this unique charity to further champion young enthusiasts in the automotive world.”

Dave Withers, Chief Executive, StarterMotor adds:

“The Scramblers donation comes at a vital time for StarterMotor, as we continue to grow our fleet and look to increase our ambassador presence at events here at Bicester Heritage and beyond. It’s truly wonderful to receive a donation from a community that is as passionate about Bicester as we are.”
