Sky Wave Gin has scooped one of its biggest wins yet by being named Distillery of the Year 2024 in The Gin Guide Awards.
The honour comes as a result of five category wins, giving the Bicester Heritage-based gin maker the highest average score. Multiple gins win in each category, crossing a scoring threshold rather than going head to head, making the Distillery of the Year one of the most highly prized of the international awards.
“Hundreds of distilleries from more than 35 countries entered so we are thrilled, proud and humbled,” they said.
Its Navy Strength Gin was among the High ABV Gin winners, while its Old Tom Gin was also a victor. Liberation London Dry Gin was named a winner in Contemporary Gin - Up to 42% ABV, likewise Sky Wave’s Orange & Vanilla Gin in the Flavoured Gin category. The distillery has invested heavily in its new bottle design recently, and it was rewarded by being named one of the eight winners of Design & Branding.
Its Signature London Dry Gin was also highly commended.
The Gin Guide Awards are fully independent and the gins are judged blind by some of the biggest names in the industry. Only the ABV is known in advance of tasting, and the judges consider appearance, aroma, taste, balance, mouthfeel, finish, with Tonic Water where relevant, and overall appeal of each gin.
Thanks to the six awards, Sky Wave’s victory count is now more than 70 since the company launched five years ago.
