YASA smashed not only its fundraising target but also its distance hopes on its Around Oxfordshire in 8 Hours charity run at Bicester Motion on Friday 19 June.
Members of its team took to the Peri Track around the outskirts of the airfield and in the shadow of the new YASA HQ in the The Ranges, joined by members of Overbury and Bicester Motion staff, hoping to log a combined 180km within eight hours. In all, runners took the total to 230km, 50km longer than the circumference of YASA’s home county Oxfordshire.
The eight-hour limit was inspired by the remarkable feat achieved by the YASA-powered AMG GTXX's ‘Around the World in 8 Days’ challenge, in which the concept car worked through 25,000 miles in eight long days around the fabled Nardò test track in Italy in August 2025.
YASA aimed to raise £1000 for Cancer Research and Bicester Motion-based automotive charity StarterMotor, but is closing in on double that number.
‘Whether it’s a donation of £8 (to match our 8-hour goal) or a larger contribution, every penny goes directly to our chosen charities – fuelling cancer research and empowering the engineers of tomorrow,’ the organisers said.
