Two Bicester Motion specialists have joined this year’s prestigious Colorado Grand, a 1000-mile tour across America's most spectacular roads.
The event is open to pre-1960 sports cars, and Pendine and Blue Diamond Riley Services are both representing British makers with their entrants.
Pendine’s James Mitchell is part of the team in the Jaguar C-type that was awarded second in class at Pebble Beach, while John ‘JLo’ Lomas is with a Riley MPH.
The Big Cat has been fastidiously restored, having been sourced by Pendine for its owner, and wears the Finnish colours of its first owner – it raced in Scandinavia in period. The MPH, meanwhile, is one of only 15 ever made by the Riley factory in 1934/’35 and was the marque’s answer to Italy’s finest at the time.
This is the 36th running of the charitable event, which has raised more than $10m for local foundations and organisations. The route changes annually but covers around 1000 miles of Colorado roads, punctuated by the spectacular Rocky Mountains.
The 2026 running began on Monday 8 September and concludes on Saturday 13 September.
