Pendine is returning to the lawns of Pebble Beach this summer, with the Hansgen Special leading its entry into the world-famous concours.

The event takes place on 16 August in California, concluding Monterey Car Week.

Based on a Jaguar XK120, the Hansgen Special was created by racer Walt Hansgen to skip the queue for a C-type.

The American racer stripped down his XK120 and built it up into the Special in 14 months, inspired by Jaguars and Allards, quickly hitting the track to face the C-types.

His biggest win was secured at the formidable Watkins Glen in 1953, coming out on top of a thrilling final-lap duel.

From there on Hansgen was a hired gun and played a huge part in the career of Mark Donohue.

Almost 50 years later, Pendine was asked by owner Terry Larson to find a new home for the car and they quickly found one. Under that new custodianship, of Dr Christian Jenny, and overseen by Pendine since 2020, the Hansgen Special made its Goodwood Revival debut in front of Walt’s son Rusty and grandson Ashley.

The Hansgen Special will make its Pebble Beach debut in August with Curated by Pendine and its owner. Pendine was awarded second in class at Pebble Beach in 2025 with XKC 015, the Jaguar C-type that was raced in Scandinavia in period.
